Zip World Titan

Posted: 8th February 2016

A week ago I posted that I was going to be doing a mile-long 100mph superman-position zip line over Bethesda Quarry. I thought that by telling you all I intended to “fly” Zip World Velocity, it would give me the extra resolve I might need to let go (of probably anything I could hold onto) at the top.

Velocity operates in almost all weather, except for high winds. As you can imagine, safety is quite a big deal for this attraction and I was notified just over 24 hours in advance that it was going to be closed and to rebook for another time. My thoughts raced quickly through:

“Oh no, and there I was all prepared for it”
“phew!”
“what am I going to tell my friend [doing the zip line with me]”
“twitter will think I chickened out!!”
"twitter won't actually give a stuff"

We had friends visiting from South Wales and I wanted to see if my flight buddy Colin and I could still find something adrenaline-inducing to do while they were here. Thankfully Zip World Titan was still operating.

Owned by the same adventure activity group, Titan is situated at Llechwedd Slate Caverns in Blaenau Ffestiniog, about 25 miles from the Velocity site. It is made up of three shorter and steeper zip lines than Velocity, and riders travel in a seated position, but it’s still fast, and scary. We took some footage of our adventure which I have posted below as proof that I’m not a total baby and will rebook onto Velocity sometime in coming weeks, ideally once all the storms have blown themselves out…

Note: Colin was wearing the Go Pro so the slide is seen from his perspective. but the screams were all mine.
